ABOUT SEN HELP

OUR WHY SENHELP

SENHELP wants to BE the difference and MAKE the difference to children who have difficulty learning in conventional arenas. We want to be the blessing to those who see life through that different window as well as those trying to understand the view.

SENHELP wants to give teachers more support strategies to effectively navigate the responsibilities of their student’s IEP, have better management of the classroom environment, and specified tools for behavior control. By educating the general education teacher about the activity limitations that flow associated with different abilities, they will be more equipped with strategies that address:

Our Vision

Our services are as important as the other cadres crucial to the success of inclusion and education (i.e., assistive technology, speech and occupational therapists, psychologists and assistants). They are also in direct alignment with the 2nd priority of the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO – [email protected] ) Strategic Plan of 2019-2022, which is to develop educational performance to improve the inclusion process. Our solutions also address the 5th priority of this Plan which is to a) employ IT and data management to support the work environment and b) to support innovations and foresighting the future.

Short-term goals and solutions are outlined on our home page, with the belief that plan adherence can grow our SEN population into more productive, self-regulating adults. If it takes a Village to raise a child, it takes a child with autism to raise the consciousness of the Village. Our goal is servicing exceptional students and their POD families, assisting teachers, SEN Coordinators and therapists (the components of the “Village”) with up-to-date resources, methods and technology (for ease of delivery). Our mission is to offer the best support with no judgment, sharing resources that are not just Spectrum friendly but necessary for well-rounded student development (access to movies with lower volumes, swimming pools, hippotherapy, sensory rooms and software options designed with this special population in mind). The hope is to have warehouse space housing our materials and tools available to reinforce and update

Overview of the Goals

Regular education teachers are overwhelmed and underprepared to handle the specific needs of SEN students included on their roster. SENHELP wants to assist and educate them. Tools and strategies will be introduced, practiced and supported. Resources will be shared. A least restrictive environment can become a workable solution.

SENHelp Webinars

As it stands, SEN students are not getting what they need to succeed. Their parents are at a loss, with resources being few, nannies are being sent in to assist teachers with the behavior quirks and different learning abilities of their young charges and teachers are at a loss. They are overwhelmed by the responsibility, uninformed of particulars of learning disabilities and associated behaviors, with no clear set of instructions or guidelines to help the SEN Coordinators.

Webinars offered bi-monthly led by seasoned professionals in the field:
Open forum discussion groups that offer health, home and classroom tips to teachers and families with time allowance for questions.

Mission &
Values

Offering support in the schools through exposure to options and resources is the first step we outline in our multi-tier plan. When talking to the families of children with learning disabilities, the dominating complaint is the need for a break. For some it’s a sanity saver, a chance to exhale or just a way to spend quality time taking care of themselves and other family members. Aside from increasing student independence, our ultimate vision is to eventually open a respite camp in Abu Dhabi for families when a break is required during the school year. The long-term goal would be the evolution of the facility into a summer camp when school is out that can double as a vocational training center year-round. Availability would extend to all children with disabilities, not just those on the spectrum. Reservations for these limited slots would be mandatory.
